Scott Stewart Inducted as Chairperson of SEA-MW

On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, SK&A Principal, Scott Stewart, PE, SE was inducted as Chairperson of the Structural Engineers Association - Metropolitan Washington (SEA-MW).  Scott will be serving a one-year term as Chairperson and spokesman for the organization.  His responsibilities include presiding over all executive committee and general membership meetings, appointing committee chairmen and members, and coordinating an annual budget for adoption.  In addition, Scott previously served as Vice Chairperson for SEA-MW from 2019 to 2020 assisting the Chairperson with the organization programs.

Scott is Principal-in-Charge of SK&A’s DC office and oversees office operations, manages design teams and directs project development, including the origination of structural concepts and the application of analysis processes.  His experience includes structural design, the evaluation of existing buildings for current load conditions, structural investigations, and peer reviews.  Scott’s 29 years of practice have permitted him the opportunity to be involved in the design, retrofit and evaluation of significant projects, including multi-building developments, major existing building renovations and modernizations, as well as adaptive reuse projects.  Some of his notable projects include the DC Water Headquarters, 55 M Street, SE, The Yards Mixed-Use, 1701 Rhode Island Avenue Repositioning, Plaza West, Ballou Senior High School, and the Southern Regional Technology Recreation Complex.
