Each of our two offices, both located in the DC Metro area, offer something different. Our Maryland office is in Park Potomac, a vibrant neighborhood hub with terrific restaurants, boutique shops and a grocery store. Steps away from the office is a beautiful picnic area with fountains, a walking path, and even a dog park. Training & Development

We believe that providing abundant resources, including generous annual allowances for your professional development, makes our team of committed professionals eager to innovate, learn, and grow.

 

  • Professional Development Allowance Program – $1,000 a year to help you meet your goals. Examples include soft skills training (public speaking, networking, time management), mental health support (Calm app), and engineering resources (code books, webinars, seminars, PE study guides).
  • Licensure Support – Paid time away to take your PE or SE exam, as well as paid annual fees for 2 state registrations (3 for PMs and above).
  • Tuition Assistance Program – Reimbursement for 50% of the cost of your course if you receive a grade of B or higher.
  • Ongoing Learning – Regular in-house industry seminars and training presented by industry partners and SK&A staff.

Flexible Remote Work Benefit

Employee Referral Program – Receive a $1,000 referral bonus upon 6 months of your referral’s successful employment.

 

Health Insurance

  • 100% Company-Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for our employees. Dependents only pay 50% of the difference between employee-only coverage and cost to add the dependent.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) – To further offset your medical, dental, and vision premium costs, SK&A also makes a quarterly contribution to your HSA account.

 

Income Protection Insurance

  • Company-Paid Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D) – SK&A provides you 2 times your salary, up to $100,000, in group life and AD&D insurance. You can also elect to add voluntary life and/or AD&D insurance over and above that amount.
  • 100% Company-Paid Short Term Disability Insurance
  • 100% Company-Paid Long Term Disability Insurance

 

Retirement Planning

  • 401(k) Plan – Employees can choose to contribute pre- and/or post-tax (Roth) via payroll deduction.
  • Profit Sharing – SK&A contributes a percentage of your total compensation (base pay, OT, and bonuses) into your pretax 401(k), regardless of whether you choose to  make your own payroll contributions.
  • Investment Counseling Services – Our 401(k) administrator, Empower, offers many resources to help you with your investments.

 

Paid Time Off

  • Accrued over the course of the year and increases with tenure. Plus, you can roll over up to 320 hours/year.
    • 0-60 months (15 PTO days/year)
    • 61-180 months (20 PTO days/year)

Internships

Our goal is to provide future talent the chance to gain professional work experience through a summer internship.

 

We believe that having the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to the practical experience of working in a professional environment under the direction of a mentor is invaluable. Whether technical or administrative, SK&A Interns engage with all levels of personnel to complete projects and tasks related to their course of study.

 

Internship positions are typically available in our engineering, human resources and marketing departments. Structural Engineer Interns may work on design analysis, construction administration tasks and accompany project managers on field visits. Administrative Interns may work with human resources to write company policies and complete benefits administration or with marketing to develop SK&A website content and maintain social media internet links.
