United Arab Emirates Chancery and Security Building
In 1999, SK&A served as the structural engineer of record for the renovation program at the United Arab Emirates Chancery. The latest renovation included improvements to a 10,831 sf, four-story addition to the rear as well as changes to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (MEP), waterproofing, interior build-outs, and the addition of an exterior rooftop terrace.
The scope also included the design and construction of a 938 sf, single-story, blast resistant security facility to the UAE Embassy building. In addition to the secure building structure, a security barrier comprised of both fixed and retractable bollards, new vehicular barrier walls, and a security fountain were installed along the majority of the street-facing perimeter.
