Competing to Improve Lives: SK&A Participates in JDRF’s 27th Real Estate Games

June 2, 2016

On Thursday, June 2nd, for the 10th consecutive year, The SK&A Group (SK&A) participated in the JDRF Real Estate Games in support of JDRF’s mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).  SK&A was involved as a gold-level sponsor for the event held at American University in Washington, DC.  The SK&A team consisted of 19 competitors and three volunteers, competing in a variety of sporting events: men’s basketball, chair hockey, table tennis, foosball, bouncy ball relay, 4x100M relay, punt, pass, and kick contest, big trike derby, volleyball, obstacle course relay, mixed doubles tennis, and the main event.

Overall, SK&A’s teams for men’s basketball and foosball were successful in their early rounds, but were later eliminated from their respective events.  The chair hockey, volleyball, and mixed doubles tennis teams faced some tough competition early on and put forth strong efforts in their events.  The relay and derby teams also battled hard and posted respectable times.  Macenzie Smith, a Structural Engineer II with the firm, said “JDRF is such a great event! It provides a good opportunity to spend time with colleagues outside of the office, and it’s so awesome to see so many people taking time out of their busy schedules to come together for such a great cause.”
