Beacon Landing Tops Out in Fairfax

June 11, 2026

SK&A Structural Engineers joined Wesley Housing, The Lamb Center, Harkins Builders, Mark Yoo Architect, Miner Feinstein Architects, and project partners on June 10, 2026, to celebrate the topping out of Beacon Landing, a new Permanent Supportive Housing community taking shape along Fairfax Boulevard in Fairfax, Virginia.

Located on the former Hy-Way Motel site, Beacon Landing will provide 54 affordable apartments for individuals exiting chronic homelessness. Developed by Wesley Housing in partnership with The Lamb Center, the five-story, mixed-use community is designed to offer residents a stable, supportive place to call home, with on-site services, community spaces, and access to resources that support long-term housing stability.

The project’s ground floor will include an employment center operated by The Lamb Center, expanding its job readiness programs and connecting residents with opportunities for work, career growth, and financial stability. The building is also designed to meet National Green Building Standards (NGBS) and Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) requirements, supporting a more sustainable and resilient future for the community.

The topping out marks a meaningful construction milestone for a project rooted in partnership and purpose. Once complete, Beacon Landing will transform a once-transient site into Northern Virginia’s largest Permanent Supportive Housing community, creating a welcoming home for neighbors who have spent years moving between shelters, motels, and the street.

SK&A is grateful to be part of the team helping bring Beacon Landing from vision to reality, supporting a development that demonstrates how thoughtful design, collaboration, and community-focused housing can change lives and strengthen neighborhoods.
