Celebrating Our 1st Year With Avery Dittmer

June 09, 2026

Avery first joined SK&A as an intern with the Repair + Restoration Division in the summer of 2024. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, he returned to SK&A in a full-time role last June.

As a Structural Engineer I in our Repair + Restoration Division, Avery supports the assessment, evaluation, and repair of existing structures through visual surveys, field measurements, repair quantity take-offs, construction observations, testing, and repair documentation. In just his first year here, he has already made valuable contributions to several projects, including the Bethesda Parking Facilities Assessments, Tysons Corner Center Garage A Pedestrian Bridge Repairs (and the associated Services During Construction), along with 8101 Connecticut Avenue Bridge Abutment Repairs.

This year, Avery also earned the new WACEL Wood Framing Special Inspector certification, placing him among the first individuals anywhere to receive this credential. This certification strengthens Avery’s ability to support wood-framed construction inspections and reflects his commitment to developing his repair and restoration expertise.

In his first year, Avery has really hit the ground running. He’s shown great attention to detail, consistently turning in solid work and staying on top of deadlines. He has quickly become a go-to team member on several projects.

“Avery, your strong work ethic stood out during your internship, and it has been great to see you continue to bring that same dedication, curiosity, and willingness to learn to your full-time role. We’re grateful to have you as part of the SK&A team!” ~ Cindy Garman, PE, BECxP, CxA+BE, Principal
