Onel, PE, SE

Hakan Onel, PE, SE, is a Principal and Senior Project Manager within SK&A’s Maryland office. Prior to joining SK&A in 2001, Hakan enjoyed five years of construction-related experience in Turkey as a Construction Manager and Construction Engineer, where he was responsible for all phases of several multi-million dollar projects involving both structural steel and reinforced concrete buildings. Hakan’s prior background coupled with his demonstrated strong creative and technical skills enabled him to produce such award-winning projects as Constitution Center and 300 New Jersey Avenue (recognized by NCSEA as the 2010 National Outstanding Project of the Year), both in Washington, D.C. Hakan is experienced in dynamic analysis and seismic engineering and has been instrumental in increasing SK&A’s acquisition of GSA-related projects to provide seismic evaluations of existing buildings, as well as progressive collapse and blast-resistant design services. 

Hakan received his Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University and his Bachelor of Science degree from Bosphorus University, in Istanbul, Turkey.  He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, North Dakota, Nebraska, and maintains licensure as a Structural Engineer in Illinois and Nevada.
