Five stories of wood framing are now complete above the project’s concrete podium, marking an important milestone for the new mixed-use, affordable housing community.
Park Place at Addison Road Metro reached its full structural height on July 29, 2026, with the topping out of the building’s five-story wood-framed residential portion. The milestone follows completion of the building’s concrete podium earlier this year. The hybrid structure includes five levels of wood framing above a podium slab, with retail and lobby space at ground level and one level of underground parking.
Located at 6301 Central Avenue in Capitol Heights, Maryland, directly across from the Addison Road–Seat Pleasant Metro station, Park Place will bring 193 affordable apartment homes and approximately 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail to the community. The development will also include a public plaza, landscaped green space, pedestrian-friendly walkways, outdoor seating, a rooftop deck, fitness and multipurpose spaces, bicycle storage, and resident services.
The project is the first phase of the larger Addison Park redevelopment and represents continued investment in transit-oriented development along Prince George’s County’s Blue Line Corridor.
SK&A is serving as the structural engineer for the project, working alongside developer Banneker Ventures and architect Torti Gallas + Partners. SK&A’s project team includes Walid Choueiri, PE, SE; David Stringer, PE; and Maurice O’Connor, PE.
Maurice joined Danna Anaya and SK&A interns Marie Pejcic and Luna Anaya at the July 29 celebration. Luna, a high school student exploring a future in civil engineering, spent the week shadowing SK&A’s structural engineers. The occasion gave both interns a firsthand look at an important construction milestone and the opportunity to see the project’s structural design taking shape in the field.
