Josh Woolcock, PE, LEED AP chose SK&A Structural Engineers as the launchpad for his career in engineering in 2004, having just completed his Master of Architectural Engineering degree at Pennsylvania State University. Starting as an entry-level Project Engineer, he consistently expanded his expertise and assumed increasing levels of responsibility, culminating in his appointment as a Principal of the firm in 2021.
As a Principal, Josh provides oversight and mentorship to design teams across a broad spectrum of project types, spanning new construction, adaptive reuse, renovation, and expansion of existing structures. Josh delivers technical expertise and managerial guidance, nurturing the development of structural concepts, and igniting our teams’ creativity to provide clients with efficient and innovative solutions. Among the many notable projects Josh has contributed to over the course of his career are the following: Turnberry Tower, a 25-story luxury condominium in Rosslyn; 1701 Rhode Island Ave., the adaptive reuse of a former YMCA into an office building in Dupont Circle; 55 M Street SE, a Class “A” office building at the WMATA Navy Yard Metro station; and numerous projects in Washington DC’s Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, including Navy Yards Parcels I, L, N, and O, the Thompson Hotel, and The Collective.
“Since joining SK&A over 18-years ago, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Josh – literally and figuratively. In fact, in my first three years with SK&A, Josh and I shared an office in the old N Street rowhouse and sat just a few feet apart. Over the years, we’ve worked on numerous significant projects together, and I knew early on that he would grow to be a firm leader given his technical strengths, thirst for knowledge, ability to communicate complex issues, and his commitment to our clients and their goals. It has been enjoyable to watch his evolution from a young project engineer to a principal, and one of my most trusted resources in the firm. Please join me in thanking Josh for all of his contributions to SK&A and congratulating him on this significant anniversary milestone!”
