30 years ago today, Tom Garman joined the SK&A family shortly after earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1994 from Penn State University and a two-year stint at another consultant (PSI). Tom was one of the five original pioneers in the Repair & Restoration Division along with David Rodler, Horace Willis, Bob Wychulis and Valery Mosyak who helped establish and grow the service line into the 30+ person group it is today.
Over his 3 decades at the firm, Tom has evolved into a very well-rounded engineer who handles a wide variety of project types, including over 160 projects, comprised of over 50 garage restoration projects, 20 façade repairs and several other plaza restorations, roof repairs, balcony repairs, due diligence assessments, strengthening/stabilization projects, etc. Many of the projects are with long-term loyal clients where Tom oversees all restoration projects at properties such as the National Place Building, National Press Building, 1001 G Street and Towers Crescent Drive buildings with Quadrangle, the Tysons Boulevard buildings with Lerner, and recently projects throughout Blake Real Estate’s portfolio.

Beyond his project work, Tom has always been willing to support the firm in whatever way is needed. Over the past 5 years, this has included taking a lead role in purchasing, maintaining and inventorying equipment and tools needed by Repair & Restoration staff. Tom has also maintained a consistent presence in the office making him a go-to mentor and resource for younger staff.
