Monika Crandall, PE, LEED AP joined SK&A in 2006 and has spent the past two decades growing professionally, advancing her career, bringing efficiency, care, and practical problem-solving to a wide range of engineering projects. Her path to structural engineering began early. She grew up in Poland, where both of her parents were structural engineers, and went on to earn her Master of Science in Structural Engineering from The J.J. Sniadecki University of Sciences and Technology in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Over the years, Monika has become an important voice in SK&A’s technical and thought leadership efforts. In 2025, her article, “Getting the Hang of It,” was published in STRUCTURE Magazine, highlighting her technical insight and her willingness to share knowledge with the broader structural engineering and design community.
Known for her efficiency, speed of execution, communication skills, and practical approach to problem-solving, Monika has a knack for finding the most appropriate, cost-effective, and straightforward engineering solutions for challenging structural problems. That mindset has shaped her work on many notable projects, including The Langston, 1700 New York Avenue, The Ascent at Spring Hill Station, The Shay Apartments, Audi Dealership Renovation and Expansion, AVA Ballston Square Apartments, 20 Mass, and The Annex on 12th. Among these, 20 Mass stands out as one of Monika’s most memorable projects. The renovation and repositioning projects reflect one of the things she enjoys most about structural engineering: working through ambitious architectural ideas and identifying the simplest, most practical way to make them work structurally.
Also, Monika has been very active in recent business development efforts by conducting frequent outreach seminars and presentations to potential clients, posting recent interesting technical explanations on hot topics in LinkedIn and presenting AIA approved webinars to interested Architectural firms on several topics.
In addition to her project work and industry leadership, she frequently contributes to SK&A’s community efforts through Rebuilding Together, CANstruction, and Gingertown. Outside of work, Monika enjoys traveling and reading. She is bilingual in English and Polish, with some German and French, and she considers her children to be her greatest accomplishment.
