Anda Shi, PE is a Structural Engineer with SK&A’s Design group in our Potomac, MD office. His introduction to the firm was somewhat unconventional, via a LinkedIn message to a fellow Stanford University alum in SK&A (Catherine Pastoor). We are very grateful he reached out. Over the past five years, he has made valuable contributions to numerous projects, including:
- 20 Mass Ave. in Washington, DC
- S Bell Street West Tower
- The Stacks in Washington, DC
- Macy’s Ballston Phase I in Arlington, VA
- The Well at Oxon Run in Washington, DC
Anda grew up in a rapidly developing Shanghai, where the construction of new buildings, subways, and bridges transformed daily life. Seeing the positive impact of reliable infrastructure sparked his passion for structural engineering and inspired his journey into the field. However, once you get to know him a little better, you realize he is culturally equally Midwestern, having spent a significant amount of time in Iowa where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The University of Iowa. Anda went on to earn a Master of Science in Structural Engineering degree from Stanford University.
Anda says he “enjoys helping architects and developers achieve their project goals by composing solutions and tackling technical challenges.” Outside the office, Anda’s pastimes include golfing, hiking, and watching collegiate sports. He also likes exploring local restaurants and breweries.
“It has been a pleasure to work alongside Anda this past year. He not only brings an attitude very receptive to professional growth but a congenial personality that is easy to work with and befriend.”
