A beautiful new 13-story residential tower has been added to the Capitol Riverfront skyline. Developed by Lerner Enterprises, 1000 South Capitol Street is a 350,000 square foot U-shaped building with 244 apartments, 14,000 square feet of retail space, and a 225 space below-grade garage. The rooftop itself features a resort-style deck with an infinity-edge pool, cabanas, and lush landscaping. Located in the Capitol Riverfront’s Ballpark District, the views from the rooftop include the US Capitol and Nationals Park.
SK&A was pleased to partner with internationally-acclaimed architectural firm Shalom Baranes Associates and interior design firm Cecconi Simone on the successful completion of this project. A structure of architectural beauty and engineering excellence, 1000 South Capitol features dramatically angled floor-to-ceiling windows, a landscaped terrace over the rear portico, and numerous cantilevered balconies. The building design utilized an undrained (bathtub) basement, supported by auger cast pile foundations, and hydrostatic slabs with integral pile caps.
