ICRI Habitat for Humanity, Garrett County, MD

August 14, 2014

On August 14-15, 2014, Project Managers Cindy Garman and Tom Garman from SK&A’s Repair & Restoration (R&R) Division assisted the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), with building a new home for Habitat for Humanity in Garrett County, MD.  This was the sixth year in a row that the annual event took place in Garrett County, giving volunteers the opportunity to give back to the community by helping those in need.

Alongside other ICRI members, Cindy and Tom helped with the installation of fascia board around the home’s perimeter, painted doors and shelves, hung cabinets and completed the installation of the roof.  A crane was used to deliver materials to the roof, and each shingle (down to the last) was installed with the necessary drip edges and flashing.

Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built or repaired over 800,000 homes for more than four million people worldwide in an effort to eliminate poverty and homelessness.
