SK&A Structural Engineers and Perkins Eastman are joining forces for Canstruction 2025, an annual design-build competition and community fundraiser that brings together architects, engineers, and contractors to fight hunger through creativity.
This year, our team is designing and constructing a Japanese pagoda built using over 1,600 cans of food, a project that blends architectural imagination, structural engineering expertise, and compassion for our community. Once the exhibit concludes, every can will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank to help provide meals to families across the Washington, DC region.
Design and planning for this ambitious multi-story structure are already underway. The next step is to purchase the “building materials”—the cans themselves! Your donation goes directly toward buying the cans needed to bring our vision to life—and ultimately, to stocking the shelves of the food bank.
