Excellence in Design
Award-Winning Projects:
The Wren
Excellence in Design Awards, Honorable Mention
Project Summary:
“Located in Washington DC’s Shaw District, The Wren at 965 Florida Avenue is a mixed-use residential building with an anchor 43,077-sf Whole Foods Grocery at ground level and a significant 433-unit, 12-story residential tower above. The project’s design intent was to create a dynamic mixed-use multifamily building that realized its vision to support, extend, and elevate the local community. This was achieved programmatically, technically, and architecturally through a careful collaboration of local stakeholders and design professionals.” Learn more.

DC Bilingual Public Charter School
Excellence in Design Awards, Detail Award
Project Summary:
“DC Bilingual Public Charter Schools’ need for a 28,000-SF addition and site improvements stemmed from the campus’ growing success and projected future growth of a doubled student population by 2027. The DC Bilingual campus posed a compelling design challenge due to its compact urban campus with an existing historical school building and vibrant bilingual community. From feasibility studies through design stages, DC Bilingual encouraged school and community collaboration. In response to this feedback and the needs of the school, the addition’s design focuses on three key goals: respecting the historical nature of the 33 Riggs Road campus, celebrating DC Bilingual PCS’s vibrant culture, and prioritizing indoor-outdoor connections and occupant safety.” Learn more.
