AIA Northern Virginia’s Women in Architecture group recently invited their members to tour The Commodore. The high-rise is still under construction, having just celebrated it’s Topping Out milestone in December. This Greystar development is located near the Courthouse Metro Station and will feature 423 apartment units over 18,000 SF of ground-floor retail and three levels of underground parking. The structure’s north and south elevations will feature some historic façade materials saved from the Courthouse Landmark site. This 21-story high-rise broke ground in October of 2021 and is slated for completion in the fall of 2023.
Our own Naina Bhanot, EIT, LEED AP, is SK&A’s Project Engineer for The Commodore. She helped to lead the construction tour, together with Heba Bella of Cooper Carry and Kim Plautz of John Moriarty & Associates, the architecture and construction firms for the project, respectively.
