Celebrating Walid’s 25 Years with SK&A

August 07, 2025

Walid Choueiri, PE, SE, joined the SK&A family shortly after earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2000 from the University of Beirut, Lebanon.  Walid was able to earn a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from George Washington University in 2004, completing his studies while concurrently working as a full-time engineer at the firm.

In the early stages of his career, Walid quickly developed a versatile set of technical skills in structural design covering a wide range of market sectors, structural material systems, and client types.  His growing engineering knowledge was complemented by his excellent people skills, showing a strong ability to collaborate well with co-workers, architects, developers, contractors, and other design professionals in the industry.  His impressive combination of strengths led to rapid professional growth within the firm.  Walid became a Principal in 2011 and was elevated to his current position of Sr. Principal in 2022.

Over his 25-year career, Walid has been involved with an extraordinary list of memorable, award-winning projects.  These include but are not limited to the International Spy Museum, National Landing Experience Center, Press House Warehouse, Ascent Peachtree, West Half Street, Tysons II Office Building H, L’Enfant Plaza Mixed-Use Development, Brookland Press, The Apollo, The Haven at National Harbor, The Scott Building at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, CityVista and One Metropolitan Park.

“Throughout his 14+ years as part of the firm’s leadership, Walid has balanced respecting and upholding the values and culture established by our predecessors with being adaptable, creative, and forward-thinking regarding what the firm needs to continue its success into the future. Of all the accolades noted here, I know the one Walid would be most proud of is his impact on firm culture and his camaraderie with his co-workers. I know many of us feel very lucky to have Walid in our lives as a mentor, friend, storyteller, jokester, etc. His dedication to getting to know staff on a personal level, supporting his colleagues, and setting the tone of a close-knit community are very much appreciated.”  ~Brent Stephens, PE, Sr. Principal

We further recognize that Walid does an incredible job of maintaining a work-life balance despite all that he does for the firm.  He is a dedicated husband and a father to three incredible, rapidly growing kids.  His passionate stories about coaching his kids’ basketball teams are an example of how he has the same commitment to his family at home that he brings to his SK&A family.  We don’t know how he juggles it all while maintaining such a calm and upbeat demeanor.

Please join us in thanking Walid for all his contributions to SK&A and congratulating him on this major anniversary milestone!
