Celebrating 40 Years
With Horace Willis

November 05, 2026

Since joining SK&A in 1986, Horace Willis has played an important role in the growth and evolution of our Structural Repair + Restoration Division. From his early work as a Structural Inspector to his current role as Senior Associate, Horace has built an extraordinary career defined by technical expertise, trusted client relationships, and a commitment to developing the next generation of engineers.

Over the past four decades, Horace has become a recognized expert in waterproofing, building enclosure consulting, structural assessments, and repair and restoration. His experience with façade assessments and repairs helped lay the foundation for SK&A’s building enclosure consulting services, which he was instrumental in developing. Today, he leads a team of project engineers and CAD designers, overseeing complex assignments involving building evaluations, historic preservation, parking structures, roofing, façades, and waterproofing.

Among Horace’s many professional accomplishments, his long-standing relationship with Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation, Division of Parking Operations, stands out. For more than a decade, he has managed SK&A’s professional services contracts with the County, coordinating numerous parking structure assessments, repairs, and renovations. He considers the development of a comprehensive repair and maintenance strategy for the County’s parking facilities one of his greatest career achievements.

Throughout his career, Horace has distinguished himself through his practical approach to problem-solving and his understanding of clients’ needs. His extensive project portfolio also includes notable historic preservation and restoration work at the Hotel Monaco, Tivoli Theatre, International Spy Museum, and the former Woodward & Lothrop flagship building in Washington, DC. His contributions have been recognized through industry awards, including an Award of Excellence for the Hotel Monaco Cornice Repair project and recognition from the International Parking Institute for the Capital Crescent Garage.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Horace earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and his Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Howard University. He is also a past president of the Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and has shared his expertise through technical presentations and publications.

Outside the office, Horace enjoys spending time with his wife, Jerri, and their three children, Robert, Tiffani, and Michael. He and Jerri share a love of international travel, particularly visiting tropical destinations with beautiful beaches. He has also been active in his church and in volunteer efforts supporting those in need.

Forty years represents an extraordinary commitment, and Horace’s contributions are woven into the history and growth of SK&A. His technical knowledge, dedication to clients, willingness to share his experience, and steady leadership have made a lasting impact on our firm and the people who have worked alongside him.

Please join us in congratulating Horace on 40 remarkable years with SK&A and thanking him for all he has contributed along the way!
