For the past 15 years, Mike Camarda, PE, has helped clients navigate the challenges that come with maintaining, repairing, and extending the life of existing structures. As an Associate in SK&A’s Structural Repair and Restoration Division, Mike’s experience spans façade repairs, roof replacements, waterproofing, parking structures, plazas, balconies, and historic buildings covering a variety of market sectors particularly retail, residential, office and hotels.
Among his many strengths, Mike excels at building client relationships through his responsiveness, reliability, clear communication, and ability to provide practical solutions to complex problems that meet clients’ needs. This has allowed Mike to develop trusting long-term relationships with repeat clients such as Lidl, Macerich, Belvedere Condominium, Carlyle Towers Condominium, OneLife Fitness and many others.
Mike has worked on many notable projects throughout his career including the ICRI award winning projects, Kenwood Condominium Garage & Plaza Restoration and Watergate Office Building Garage and Exterior Restoration. In addition to these project awards, Mike also received ICRI’s “Top 40 Under 40” recognition in 2021 for his strong contributions to the industry that included previously serving on the local chapter Board of Directors.
Mike has recently led SK&A’s execution of several large-scale projects including The Belvedere Façade Repairs, 4800 Montgomery Lane Garage and Façade Repairs and ongoing parking garage, pedestrian bridge and stair repairs at Tysons Corner Center that has involved continuous work at the mall over the past 6+ years.
Mike’s recent work with Lidl is an excellent example of Mike’s business development and client service capabilities. A condition assessment of the Lidl headquarters building in Arlington, VA in 2021 led to us winning a contract for doing structural inspections of all their East Coast stores in 2022. The successful completion of those inspections resulted in other opportunities with Lidl over the last 4 years, including SK&A being awarded a contract this year for the next round of store inspections throughout the East Coast.
Internally, Mike has helped organize and lead Repair + Restoration Division Project Engineer and Project Manager Roundtable discussions. He also supports in-house Technical Committee work including acting as the Façade Committee chair. Mike understands the importance of mentoring and having the right tools and communication framework in place to properly train and support staff and he is a thought leader when it comes to developing these resources.
“I greatly appreciate Mike’s determination to provide a top-notch experience for our clients and his big picture thinking regarding always looking for ways to help SK&A improve, grow and continue to succeed. It is also great to see how Mike’s endeavors in his personal life support his growth as a professional. Mike has coached lacrosse for many years, including currently being a coach for the Paul VI High School team that won the WCAC championship earlier this spring. He shows his love for sports by being a freelance sports writer. He is an engaged husband to his wife, Kathleen, and dedicated father to his two sons, Joey and Kieran. All these experiences have helped Mike be an effective leader, teacher, team player and communicator.”
