Topping Out The Sovren in West Hyattsville

January 26, 2024

The Sovren just topped out! This transit-oriented, multifamily building is the first phase in the larger Riverfront at West Hyattsville development. SK&A joined architect Davis Carter Scott, developer Gilbane, and general contractor CBG for the celebration.

The five-story apartment building features a range of unit sizes from studio to 3-bedrooms, offers both affordable and mixed-income housing, and is conveniently located near the West Hyattsville WMATA Metro station. The Sovren’s amenities include an outdoor kitchen, bike storage, pet amenities, and a landscaped courtyard with a swimming pool.

“The project consists of a new, approximately 305,000 GSF, 300-unit residential building with five levels of wood frame construction from grade. Portions of the multi-story amenity spaces were constructed with steel framing to transfer the wood framed construction above.  The residential building wraps a precast concrete parking structure for approximately 300 cars.”  ~ Josh Woolcock, PE, LEED AP, Principal

We applaud the entire project team for their efforts in reaching this milestone and recognize the following SK&A Structural Engineers’ team members who have contributed to this project’s success: Josh Woolcock, PE, LEED AP and Zachary Shugart, EIT.
