We joined CREW Maryland Suburban for a tour of Twinbrook Quarter, a transformative 18-acre mixed-use development redefining the Rockville Pike corridor.
Engineered by SK&A Structural Engineers, Twinbrook Quarter represents a major milestone in Rockville’s ongoing evolution toward a vibrant, transit-oriented urban district. Located adjacent to the Twinbrook Metro Station, the development is transforming what was once a suburban strip center into a walkable, mixed-use community that connects people, work, and daily life. When complete, the multi-phase development will include more than 1,865 residential units, 473,000 square feet of retail, and 431,000 square feet of office space across 11 buildings and a central public park.
The recently completed Phase I, anchored by The Milton at Twinbrook Quarter, features 452 apartment units, an 80,000 square-foot Wegmans supermarket, and 25,000 square feet of street-level retail. Learn more about the Bonded Post-Tension Transfer Girders supporting this construction.
During the tour, attendees explored the new residential tower and retail areas while learning about the engineering and construction milestones achieved to date. It was inspiring to see firsthand how far the project has come, from early design concepts to a thriving, built environment reshaping the Rockville Pike corridor.
SK&A’s Monika Crandall, PE, LEED AP; Jessica Wakeman, PE, SE; Macenzie Smith, PE, SE; and Sara Zaman, PE joined the tour alongside other AEC professionals. Congratulations to Jessica and Macenzie for their work on this project and to our partners at Saul Centers Inc., Clark Construction, Torti Gallas + Partners, and HOK on a job well done and the continued progress at Twinbrook Quarter.
