Real-world experience, fresh ideas, and a summer of structural engineering
On July 30, SK&A celebrated National Intern Day with our 2026 summer interns: Nate Riker, a civil engineering student at the University of Florida; Katherine Pease, who is pursuing a Master of Engineering at Imperial College London; and Marie Pejcic, who is pursuing a Master of Science in Structural Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.
Throughout the summer, Nate, Katherine, and Marie have contributed to active projects across our Design and Repair + Restoration groups, gaining firsthand experience in the practice of structural engineering. Along the way, they have brought fresh perspectives, thoughtful questions, and plenty of enthusiasm to their teams.
The celebration, organized by Macenzie Smith, PE, SE, and Sara Zaman, PE, included donuts, pizza, and a small cactus gift for each intern bearing an appropriately encouraging message: “Stay sharp and keep growing!”
National Intern Day is observed annually on the last Thursday in July to recognize interns’ contributions and the important role internships play in preparing emerging professionals for their careers. At SK&A, we are delighted to help the next generation of engineers connect their academic experience with meaningful, real-world work.
Thank you, Nate, Katherine, and Marie, for spending your summer with SK&A. We have enjoyed having you on our team and look forward to seeing where your engineering journeys take you next!
