Celebrating 5 Years
With Sara Zaman

April 20, 2026

Sara Zaman, PE, has been a valued member of SK&A for five years, bringing a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every project she touches. As a Project Manager, she leads the design, renovation, and construction administration of a wide range of structures, with a portfolio spanning adaptive reuse, educational/institutional, office, residential and restoration work.  Sara joined SK&A with over 8 years of past experience working at other structural engineering firms in the region (ReStl Designers, Keast & Hood and SGH) allowing her to be an excellent contributor to SK&A from Day 1.

Known for her solutions-oriented mindset and strong coordination across disciplines, Sara consistently delivers well-executed designs that support both technical performance and architectural intent. Her experience includes a diverse mix of notable projects such as The Accolade at 1425 New York Avenue, The Metropolitan Apartments Renovation, 8270 Greensboro Roof Terrace and Whole Foods Tenleytown Garage Column Repairs at SK&A plus the UVA Lloyd Building Renovation, GWU’s District House Residence Hall, the Smithsonian National Zoo Conservation Pavilion, and the White House Fence Reconstruction from her prior work experience.

Beyond her project work, Sara contributes to the firm’s broader impact through sustainability initiatives, mentorship, and industry engagement. She has supported efforts focused on reducing embodied carbon and advancing technical knowledge within the firm, while also giving back through STEM outreach and professional organizations. She is an active member of our in-house Embodied Carbon & Existing Building Committees, SEA-MW and CREW and a major contributor to our internship and shadow programs.

“Sara is admired by her co-workers for being steady, patient and approachable.  She is efficient and provides clear communication to her team when delegating work.  These characteristics are also noticed by our clients who enjoy working with Sara and appreciate her consistent, thorough service.  She embodies all 3 company core values of Dependability in Action, Mastery Mindset and Thriving Together.  Sara amazingly manages doing all this while remaining devoted to being there for her family (husband and 2 daughters).  Her dedication, collaborative spirit, and steady leadership continue to make a meaningful difference across SK&A and the projects we serve.”
