Celebrating 20 Years
With Glenn Weatherley

April 27, 2026

Glenn Weatherley, PE, has served in several roles across two separate tenures that together total 20 years at SK&A.

Glenn started his career at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago, Illinois, fresh off completing his Master of Science at University of California, Berkeley in 1984. After moving to the Washington, DC area, he first joined SK&A in 1986 as a Project Engineer and later left the firm as an Associate in 1994 after relocating once again to North Carolina. At the time of his departure, Glenn helped manage our DC office.

Glenn rejoined the firm in 2014 as an Associate and managed new construction projects until 2017. He completed several notable projects during that timeframe, including Constitution Square OB4, Pike & Rose Blocks 1A, 3, and 4, Chevy Chase Lake, and the WMATA Andrews Federal Center Bus Garage. Upon deciding to step away from project management work, Glenn was recognized as an ideal fit—in both skill set and demeanor—to become the firm’s first Director of Quality Assurance/Technical Standards.

Glenn currently chairs five of the firm’s technical committees, manages the firm’s continuing education activities, and brings more than four decades of experience to quality assurance reviews. Known for his thoughtful, solutions-focused, and professional approach to critique, Glenn’s depth of knowledge across all structural systems, combined with a steady focus on constructability, efficiency, and code compliance, has made him a trusted resource and mentor throughout the firm.

Throughout his career, Glenn has built a reputation for being responsive, practical, and highly effective at navigating challenges as they arise. As he puts it, “Forty plus years of practice in structural engineering has shown me that the difficulties that arise on projects can generally be contained and resolved most easily and effectively if they are addressed head-on as they develop. Good communication skills, flexible thinking, and the desire to find the best overall solution to a problem are all essential to the success of any complex project.” In addition to that, you could not ask for a more dependable and honest colleague.

Beyond his professional contributions, Glenn values the people and experiences that have shaped his journey. He and his wife Julie have built a wonderful life together, and he often shares that his greatest accomplishment is raising his two children, Matthew and Kristen. Whether he is spending time with family, restoring guitars, or exploring the outdoors, Glenn brings the same curiosity and appreciation to life outside of work as he does to his engineering practice.
