Ingleside at Rock Creek
Located adjacent to Rock Creek Park in Northwest DC, the Ingleside Retirement Community’s current site was originally established in 1960. The project’s scope included the addition of new buildings and the renovation of an existing facility at the 14-acre campus. The new changes to the site consist of:
- A new 120,000 sf independent living facility with 90 units, a new 50,000 sf assisted living facility with 15 residences, and 60,000 sf of structured parking. The two residential buildings are connected to each other as well as existing buildings at the site.
- A new 100,000 sf skilled nursing and memory support facility, plus 44,000 sf of structured parking below.
- A new independent living commons, renovation of the existing commons, as well as 15,000 sf of overall sitework. The new commons or “Center for Healthy Living” contain multiple amenity spaces, including a salon/day spa, classrooms and art studios, cafe, yoga and aerobics studio, technology center, meditation room, and fitness center.
The structural systems for the new buildings consist of poured-in-place concrete using both post-tensioned slab construction as well as areas that utilize only mild steel. The foundations consist primarily of spread footings, though there is some selective use of deep foundations as well.
