Embassy of Finland Chancery
Located at 3301 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, the Finnish Embassy’s modern building occupies the previous site of a Texas congressman’s mansion, previously built in the 1950’s. Overlooking Rock Creek Park and across the street from the Vice President’s residence, the structure is a six-level, multi-use diplomatic facility with two below-grade parking levels for 100 cars. The building’s exterior features a bronze metal façade that has developed an aged, green patina over time.
Building amenities include abundant natural light, an outside terrace, a sauna and a park-like setting. The site has numerous retaining walls and site structures as well as a monumental stair. The building is first green embassy in the United States, receiving LEED Gold Certification in 2010.
