On June 15, 2023, Whiting-Turner threw the Topping Out party for Strathmore Square in Bethesda, Maryland.
SK&A Structural Engineers joined FiveSquares Development, Torti Gallas + Partners, Bowman Consulting Group, Henry Adams, Hargreaves Jones, and Deborah Berke Partners for the celebration.
This Topping Out was for buildings 3A and 3B, 9 and 10-story residential towers connected by below-grade parking. These high-rise buildings were constructed with post-tensioned concrete. The broader plans for Strathmore Square have an arts and health focus, capitalizing on the neighboring Strathmore Music Center, Rock Creek Park, and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station. The 8-acre master-planned community is envisioned to include 2,000 residential units and a 1.25-acre “civic green” with varied outdoor spaces, a stage, and garden areas.
