SK&A Senior Associate, Seth Rogge attended the Topping Out for the Storey Park mixed-use development located on the site of the former Greyhound bus station behind Union Station in Northeast, Washington, DC. The building features a 235-room hotel and a residential component with 472 total units. The development will also include 23,026 sf of retail on the ground and second floors, as well as three levels of below-grade parking for 298 cars.
The overall project (876,650 sf) consists of a U-shaped building up to level seven where the two ends are connected to create a doughnut shape for the top six stories. The bridge between the two sides will be accomplished through the use of an inverted structural steel king post truss under level seven that will be supported by high-strength steel tension rods, which are in turn connected to concrete encased steel columns at the roof level.
