We are pleased to announce that Justin P. Long, PE, RBEC, BECxP, will be joining the SK&A Structural Engineers leadership team as a Principal effective January 1, 2025. Justin’s journey with SK&A began in 2012 as a Project Engineer. Over the years, he took on increasing responsibilities in project management and was made an Associate in 2023.
Justin has been instrumental in developing SK&A’s industrial rope access operations, facilitating close-up evaluations of difficult-to-access building elements, and with expanding our capabilities in building enclosure and waterproofing consulting. Justin’s proven leadership and expertise have contributed greatly to the success of our Repair + Restoration division, making him a natural fit for this new role.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering from Saint Francis University. Justin is a licensed Professional Engineer, a certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Process Provider (BECxP), a Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (RBEC) through IIBEC, and is SPRAT-certified for Industrial Rope Access. Alongside his professional journey, Justin has proudly served for 18 years in the military, both as an enlisted Soldier and a Commissioned Officer. He currently serves as a Major in the Army Reserves 450th CA Battalion (Airborne).”
Justin is committed to the advancement of the concrete repair and building enclosure industries, as is reflected by his active participation in the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC). He served as President of ICRI’s Baltimore-Washington Chapter in 2022 and currently holds the position of Vice President of IIBEC’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Additionally, Justin is a member of the Industry Advisory Board for Carbon-Negative Concrete Research with Penn State/University of Wisconsin/University of Illinois-Chicago.
He has also made significant contributions through presentations and lectures on topics such as concrete repairs, building science, and hygrothermal analysis at institutions like Penn State University, AIA|DC, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and at industry seminars hosted by ICRI and IIBEC. His expertise was recognized by ICRI when he was named one of their “Top 40 Under 40” in 2020.
As Principal, Justin will play a key role in overseeing active projects, business development, mentoring and training of staff, and ensuring exceptional service within our Repair + Restoration division. SK&A’s Senior Principal, Brent Stephens, congratulates Justin on his promotion noting that:
“As an engineer, Justin is versatile, passionate, detail-oriented and efficient. As a business developer, Justin understands the importance of relationship development with people throughout our industry, he is a great communicator, and he is always looking for ways to expand the firm’s capabilities.
