Structural Design for Local High School Dining Hall Makeover

July 21, 2022

“Since 1959, the Daughters of Charity have owned and operated Elizabeth Seton High School as a place where young women are empowered to learn, lead, and serve others.”

SK&A has a rich history of partnering with this Bladensburg, Maryland high school over the years. We have hosted STEM interns, mentored students for their Senior Design projects, and spoken at their Women in Leadership Day event.

Most recently, we worked together with Soto Architecture and Urban Design, PLLC and Whiting-Turner on on a dining hall renovation project. SK&A provided pro bono structural analysis and design for existing masonry walls to support new rooftop mechanical equipment, including adding new piers and openings in the masonry walls.

Our SK&A Structural Engineering team for this renovation project included Marcia M. Camarda, PE, LEED AP and Maurice O’Connor, PE.
