SK&A Leadership Evolution

The New Year brings both change and continuity to SK&A. We are excited to continue our work with clients on award-winning and technically challenging projects that shape our region and beyond, and excited to implement the next stage of our thoughtfully designed succession plan.

Scott Stewart, Walid Choueiri, Brent Stephens, and Hakan Onel will assume key roles as our next generation of firm leadership and build on the 62-year history of SK&A. Each will leverage their individual talents and skillsets while recognizing the value of a team approach in reinforcing our focus on staff cultivation, building relationships, and collaboration with our clients and design partners to help bring visions to reality.

Scott Stewart, PE, SE – President and Managing Principal

Scott Stewart joined SK&A in 2005 as an Associate and was elevated to Principal in 2009, followed by Sr. Principal in 2019. With this transition, Scott will be appointed SK&A’s new President and Managing Principal. Scott’s 30+ years of professional practice and leadership development, as well as his commitment to the success of SK&A, position him well to lead the firm and head the next generation of SK&A’s leadership.

Scott will focus on the overall direction and leadership of the firm, and work closely with the other members of the Executive Committee and fellow Principals to establish our Vision. He will also maintain his industry leadership through his role as Past-Chairperson of the Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington and as an Advisory Board member for the Catholic University of America, Civil Engineering Department.

Marcia Camarda – Principal Emeritus

Marcia Camarda started her career at SK&A 38-years ago and has served as Managing Principal for the last 13 years. Under her leadership, the firm has grown revenue by 85%, won over 250 project design awards, as well as multiple corporate philanthropy and diversity awards. In recent years, Marcia has worked closely with Scott and the rest of the leadership team, to prepare for a smooth transition. Marcia will continue to be an important member of SK&A as Principal Emeritus. In this role, Marcia will provide support for the transition, and lead key firm initiatives around staff growth and leadership development. Reflecting Marcia’s lifelong commitment to mentorship and SK&A’s diversity, Marcia will be a champion for firm culture and continuing to elevate the profile of SK&A within the commercial real estate industry.

Executive Committee

Walid Choueiri, Brent Stephens, and Hakan Onel will be elevated to Sr. Principal, rounding out our new senior leadership team, and Executive Committee.

Walid joined SK&A in 2000 as an entry-level Project Engineer. He grew with the firm, becoming a part of firm leadership in 2011 when promoted to Principal. In addition to a strong technical skillset, Walid is a proven leader with strong connections to our staff, our client base, and trends in the industry. He will guide our staff operations, with a focus on project delivery, operational efficiencies, and innovation. Walid will continue to be a key technical resource to all staff and provide guidance and mentoring to project teams.

Brent joined SK&A in 1999 serving as a Project Engineer and was appointed Principal in 2013. Brent provides key guidance and leadership in the firm with a focus on our Repair and Restoration Division. He has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of services in this Division and will continue to provide guidance to the Division’s project teams. In his new position, Brent will expand his area of responsibility to include leadership of SK&A’s Information Technology efforts, as well as providing guidance and focus on key Human Resource initiatives.

Hakan joined SK&A in 2001 as a Project Engineer and has served as a part of firm leadership as a Principal since 2011. He has been instrumental in our continued technical excellence and has key client development responsibilities. In his new position, Hakan will expand his responsibilities to be a leader in our Business Development efforts, while continuing to be a key technical resource and provide guidance and mentoring to project teams.

Leadership Depth

David Rodler and Josh Woolcock will continue to be a part of firm management and provide leadership as Sr. Principal and Principal, respectively. Dave will continue to guide our Repair and Restoration Division, along with Brent. Josh will be a key technical leader and mentor of our project teams, as well as providing guidance to key marketing efforts.

Seth Rogge, in his new role as Principal, will be committed to serving our clients, guiding and mentoring our project teams, and be a key contributor to our business development efforts.
