Cindy Garman Elevated to Principal

Cindy Garman, PE, BECxP, CxA+BE  joined SK&A in 2004 as a Project Engineer and continued growing and taking on additional responsibilities, becoming a Project Manager, then a Senior Project Manager. She was promoted to Associate in 2016 and has proven herself to be a capable leader within our Structural Repair + Restoration group. In recognition of Cindy’s dedication and contributions to the firm, SK&A is pleased to announce that as of January 1, 2023, Cindy will be joining our leadership team as a Principal!

Cindy earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, then went on to earn her Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over the course of her 18 years with SK&A, Cindy has worked on a variety of projects with expertise in waterproofing consulting and façade, garage, and plaza renovations. Four of her projects have received ICRI Outstanding Repair Project Awards including The Watergate Office Building Façade & Garage Repairs and Kenwood Condominiums Plaza Renovation.

In addition to being a licensed Professional Engineer, Cindy is also a Building Enclosure Commissioning Process Provider (BECxP) and a Commissioning Authority + Building Enclosure Knowledge Professional (CxA+BE.) She has been an active member of the International Concrete Repair Institute’s (ICRI) Baltimore-Washington Chapter including serving on the Board of Directors and acting as chapter Secretary.

As Principal, Cindy will oversee active projects and assist with staff development, business operations, and ensuring high-quality service in our Repair + Restoration group. SK&A’s Senior Principal J. Brent Stephens, PE congratulates Cindy on her promotion, noting that “Cindy has never hesitated to take on a challenge and uses her tremendous intellect, patience, communication skills, and determination to solve any problem she faces. She is an excellent listener and takes the time to understand the needs of her clients and co-workers helping her develop strong relationships and guide teams through many successful projects. These traits along with her many other leadership skills will serve Cindy well in her new role with the firm.”
