SEA-MW YMG Wins National Award

November 15, 2023

The Structural Engineers Association Metropolitan Washington chapter’s Young Members Group (SEA-MW YMG) received a national award, presented during a Future Leaders Reception at the 2023 NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit. This year’s summit was held at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

The SEA-MW YMG group, chaired by SK&A Project Manager Ammar Motorwala, PE, was awarded “Younger Member Group of the Year.” NCSEA states that “The primary focus of this recognition is to acknowledge YMGs that contribute to the advancement of their young members, SEAs and communities” (http://www.ncsea.com/awards/ymgchapter/).

In an interview after the event, Ammar shared that the SEA-MW YMG group was recognized for their volume of events and outreach to younger engineers, offering ample opportunities for networking, socializing, and group involvement. The group regularly partners with other industry groups in the DC Metro area to provide further opportunities for connection among engineers of all ages across the region. Additionally, the Metropolitan-Washington Young Members Group is unique in offering an annual “Next Step Forum for Future Structural Engineers.”

SK&A congratulates Ammar on his outstanding leadership as Board Chair of SEA-MW YMG and applauds all of the group’s members on receiving this national recognition.
