ASAE shared the following announcement, congratulating Macenzie on this award:

“ASAE is excited to formally announce Macenzie Smith as the 2024 ASAE Early Career Impact Award recipient: She was recently honored at the annual AE Awards Banquet hosted at Penn State last month.

Macenzie is an alumna of the AE Department who earned both her MAE and BAE in 2014. She is now a practicing Project Manager with SK&A Structural Engineers:

Since graduating, she has demonstrated a commitment to volunteering and community outreach both in and beyond the AEC industry: Macenzie is a founding member of SEA-MW’s Community Outreach Committee, volunteering with STEM programming for local schools, Girl Scout troops, and virtual demonstrations during the pandemic. In addition to her student outreach; Macenzie participates in the annual JDRF Real Estate Games raising money for children with Type 2 Diabetes.

Macenzie continues to give back to the AE Department through student mentoring, thesis advising; and class presentations. She is also a frequent attendee of the annual AE Career Fair!

Beyond her outreach, Macenzie thrives in her role at SK&A. She has built a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from single-story to 29-story high-rises within many project sectors. Macenzie demonstrates a commitment to career growth and potential success as she continues to progress in her career. Congratulations, Macenzie!”
