David Orense, EIT is a Structural Engineer with the Repair + Restoration group in our Potomac, MD office. In just his first year with us, he has already made valuable contributions to numerous projects, including:
- Roof Restoration at the Watergate East Condominium in Washington, DC
- Structural Safety Inspections for various Lidl locations
- Garage Repairs at Columbia Plaza
- Balcony Restoration at Park Potomac North Tower in Potomac, MD
Additionally, in July, David cohosted an American Concrete Institute (ACI) podcast on “Engineering Greatness.” No stranger to ACI, David actually helped to found the University of Florida’s ACI Student Chapter, back during his undergrad there with that chapter still going strong.
In November, he represented SK&A at the ACI Concrete Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. David had held the chair position in the S805: Student Leadership Council committee during graduate school and has now “graduated” to co-chair of the S806: Young Professionals Committee. David continued these efforts in March of this year attending the ACI Spring Convention in New Orleans. David also sits on several ACI technical committees.
“David came to SK&A with an extensive background in concrete research and with a clear passion for the field of structural restoration work. His background combined with his enthusiasm helped him quickly get involved in a larger variety of projects and he has proven to be a quick learner and effective problem solver. In addition to his project work, David always looks for ways to grow his knowledge through continuing education resources. This has resulted in additional accomplishments such as already taking and passing his PE Civil: Structural Exam and getting his ACI Associate Concrete Construction Special Inspector certification last summer. It has been a pleasure collaborating with and getting to know David over this past year.”
