Since joining the firm back in 2000, Sr. BIM/CAD Technician, Xavier “Xa” McGruder has been one of those steady, reliable presences that every great team depends on. He’s supported countless design teams over the years with precision and skill — producing technical drawings, BIM models, and construction documents — and serving as a go-to resource on office standards, Revit tools, and techniques. If you’ve ever worked alongside Xa, you know the calm confidence he brings and the pride he takes in getting things right.
Over the past two and a half decades, his fingerprints are on hundreds of our projects — from early landmarks like Ballston Point to more recent and high-profile work such as CityCenterDC, DC Water Headquarters, Wardman Condominiums, Walter Reed, Truesdell Elementary School, Richland Mall Redevelopment, and 4909 Auburn Avenue, among many others. Each of these projects — and so many in between — has benefited from the accuracy, care, and craftsmanship that Xa brings to every task.
A graduate of the Maryland Drafting Institute, Xa began his career in bridge engineering before finding his home here at SK&A. Born and raised in Adelphi, Maryland, he’s a true local to the region — and when he’s not working on BIM models and drawings, you’ll probably find him outside tackling a yard project or improving something around the house.
“Xa, on behalf of all of us — thank you for your 25 years of dedication, for the craftsmanship and pride you bring to your work, and for the quiet professionalism that has helped shape SK&A’s reputation for quality. Congratulations on this milestone anniversary — and here’s to more great years ahead!”
