Engineering News Record (ENR) Magazine recently released their 2017 list of the Top Young Professionals (formerly known as the "Top 20 Under 40") in the Mid-Atlantic region. The SK&A Group is delighted to announce that the firm's Director of Building Information Modeling and Project Manager, Kellie Farster, was named to the list. Out of 40 entries submitted to ENR Mid-Atlantic, only 22 candidates ultimately made the final cut. The list is compiled through an annual entry process from candidates who work in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Selections are made by an independent jury and are based on multiple criteria, such as: work experience, industry leadership activities, improvements to the built environment and community service.
Working out of SK&A's DC Office, Kellie joined the firm in 2011, and has proven to be a dedicated asset to the firm ever since. As a project manager, Kellie juggles multiple responsibilities from structural engineering analysis and design to project management, construction coordination, and contract administration for a variety of projects, including new structures and renovations as well as the expansion of existing structures. Her project portfolio includes building types ranging from office, residential, mixed-use/retail, academic, recreation and healthcare. These include a variety of structural systems such as pre-stressed concrete, mild reinforced concrete, and steel structures. Notable projects that she has worked on include: [Add Projects].
In addition to her regular duties at SK&A, she has represented the firm on teams for various local charitable causes including the JDRF Real Estate Games, CANstruction and Gingertown. Additionally, she has volunteered her expertise and time to organizations such as the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program, Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, and Group Workcamps, a non-profit that organizes week-long trips for youth to repair homes for people in need.
A Michigan-native, Kellie resides in DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood and enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, skiing, sailing and traveling with her husband, Brad, and 10-month old daughter, Emma.
